Peru seeks to attract U.S. investments in High Technology

Important market! The Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERU) organized the Roadshow Invest Peru in the city of Pasadena in California, aimed at technology-based companies and entities in the United States. The purpose of the meeting was to consolidate the image of our country as an attractive destination for foreign investments related to the High-Tech sector with cross-sectoral impact.
The event took place on January 31, during which conferences, panels, visits and meetings were held for potential investors and entities related to the aforementioned area, showing the macroeconomic strengths and the good business climate of our country, as well as the comparative and competitive advantages that make it an ideal recipient of foreign direct investment.
Some of the institutions and companies that visited and participated in the Roadshow Invest Peru - Pasadena 2024 were Build Your Dreams (design and technology applied to transport industries), Caltech and Huntington Medical Research Institute (research and innovation in the health sector). Their representatives held bilateral meetings with the Peruvian delegation, where they discussed issues related to potential investments or partnerships with the innovation ecosystem in Peru.
In the afternoon, conferences were held by the Peruvian delegation, attended by technology companies from the area in areas related to Artificial Intelligence, E-Commerce, AgroTech, Cybersecurity, HealthTech, LogiTech, HRTech and FinTech, among others.
Following the Roadshow Invest Peru - Pasadena 2024 (focused on the promotion of business investment in the technology sector), PROMPERU's Directorate of Business Investment Promotion, in coordination with the Commercial Office in Los Angeles, continued its program of activities with a second event dedicated to the promotion of Peru as an attractive country for the film industry.
Additional information:
- Between 2003 and 2022, the Peruvian high-tech sector registered USD 430.9 million of foreign direct investment, through 116 projects, belonging to 107 companies. The last five years of this period stand out for having accumulated 44% of total financing in the sector.
- The countries that have invested most in high technology in Peru are Spain, the United States and Argentina, which represent 54% of total foreign investment, followed by Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Germany.
