With the aim of fostering and enhancing the capacities of Peruvian enterprises spearheaded by women, the PROMPERÚ initiative encompassed various economic sectors within the nation.
An exemplary accomplishment has been attained as a total of 132 companies and organizations, spearheaded by women, underwent training in the Program for Leading Women Exporters, known as "Ella Exporta" ("She Exports"). Spanning a duration of six years, from 2017 to 2023, this program, orchestrated by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), bolstered the capacities of Peruvian companies helmed exclusively by female exporters or those harboring export prospects. The primary aim was to facilitate desired international expansion and market diversification endeavors.
ENHANCING THE ENTIRETY OF PERU
It is pertinent to highlight that the companies under discussion, having undergone training, represent key sectors including agribusiness, the clothing industry, and manufacturing. Their operations extend across a comprehensive network spanning 16 regions within our nation, encompassing Áncash, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huánuco, Ica, Junín, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Piura, Puno, and San Martín.
During the second gathering titled "Mujeres empresarias: fomentando la innovación y diversidad cultural" ("Women in Business: Fostering Innovation and Cultural Diversity"), convened on March 14, the primary aim was to acknowledge the role women play in Peru's economy, particularly in fostering innovation, advancing scientific endeavors, and enriching our nation's cultural tapestry. Additionally, the announcement was made for the commencement of the "Ella Exporta 2024" ("She Exports 2024") program, designed to sustain the notable achievements of the past six years.
ADVANCING FEMALE EMPOWERMENT IN PERU
With the aim of enhancing the nuanced and technical proficiencies of companies led by women, PROMPERÚ has been actively engaged in formulating programs and initiatives for female empowerment. Notable among these endeavors is the Proyecto Mujeres en el Comercio para el Crecimiento Inclusivo y Sostenible (Women in Commerce Project for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth), conducted in collaboration with the Oficina de Facilitación del Comercio con Canadá (Trade Facilitation Office (TFO Canada)). This initiative facilitated comprehensive training sessions for over 120 companies operating in the agribusiness sector, equipping them with essential tools requisite for market penetration in Canada.
In this context, there has been the provision of training in export business management specifically tailored for women entrepreneurs hailing from indigenous communities. This initiative was implemented in the Ucayali region throughout the year 2023, facilitating the training of 25 artisans representing the Shipibo Conibo, Kakatibo, and Yanesha ethnic groups.
It is pertinent to note that PROMPERÚ operates within the framework of the Plan Estratégico Nacional Exportador (National Exporter Strategic Plan) – PENX 2025, wherein sustainability stands as its second pillar. Accordingly, the organization has undertaken sustainable initiatives as integral components of its Sustainable Culture strategy.
