One of the most representative cities of our country is celebrating another anniversary year! Trujillo is located in the north of our country and is characterized by having a strong sun, beaches, archaeological sites and a mild climate. Trujillo is the capital of La Libertad department, which has around one million inhabitants and is the third most populated city in the country.
The City of Eternal Spring was founded at the end of the year: December 29, 1534. And its official creation as a city by Diego de Almagro is celebrated in March, with the implementation of the first city hall.
Trujillo is characterized by having an impressive historical wealth and, in addition, it is also recognized as the Capital of Culture. Among its most representative places, the Chan Chan Archaeological Complex stands out, located in the Moche Valley at 5 km from the city center. It houses the largest mud city of the pre-Hispanic America and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On the other hand, there is also the Plaza de Armas, the historical and monumental epicenter of the city; Alto Salaverry, Caballo Muerto, Cerro Oreja, Huacas del Sol y de la Luna (Temple of the Sun and the Moon Complex), Galindo, hydraulic works, and many others. And it should be also mentioned the resort of Huanchaco, a beautiful beach.
There is no doubt that this city is one of the most important tourist destinations in the northern of Peru because of its landscapes, attractions, and food. Its gastronomic variety, resulted from the mixture of cultures due to its history, makes it one of the most delicious in the country. Among its dishes, the shambard, cabrito con frijoles (kid stew with beans), ceviche, corvina a lo macho (spicy sea bass) or picante de mariscos (spicy seafood) stand out. Delicious!
