Two outstanding Peruvian artists have just won awards at the 2019 Latin Grammys. One of them is singer and composer Tonny Succar, who was recognized as 'Best Producer of the Year', and won in the 'Best Salsa Album' category with his recent album "Más de Mí".
The second artist who waived the Peruvian flag was Kike Purizaga; the musician from Piura shared a Latin Grammy for 'Best Traditional Tropical Album' as director and producer of the album "Andrés Cepeda Big Band".
Succar, who currently lives in Miami, dedicated his triumph to "all Peruvians around the world" and thanked the musicians and artists who participated in his latest production; he also dedicated the recognition to his grandfather. "I want to dedicate this award to my 94-year-old grandfather, who could not be with me today but who has given me everything in life", said the artist with his voice clearly cracking.
Purizaga, for his part, a music teacher with a long career in Peru, Colombia and the United States, told local media that the award was a wonderful moment and "discipline makes the difference”. "In my case, I've also had a lot of patience and training", he added.
It should be noted that this is the second time Purizaga has received a Grammy, the first being in 2004 for the album "Sin desperdicio" by Johnny Ventura.
Succar and Purizaga were honored at the ceremony for the 20th annual Latin Grammy Awards, held last Thursday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
