Over 50 years of rich history

Under the leadership of Jorge Rodriguez, Los Mirlos emerged with the goal of giving voice and rhythm to the Peruvian Amazon. Inspired by the nature and traditions of their homeland, their music blends native elements with the influences of rock and tropical music.

With hits like "Eres Mentirosa" (You are a Liar), "La Danza de Los Mirlos" (The Blackbird Dance) and "Cumbia de los Pajaritos" (Cumbia of the birds), Los Mirlos have brought their music to international stages. In recent decades, they have remained relevant through collaborations, reimagined versions of their classics, and performances at major international festivals.

There is no doubt that "Los Charapas de Oro" have been influential in shaping many artists across Latin America. Groups like "Chicha Libre" in New York, "Los Yegros" in Argentina, and "The Limiñanas" in France have all drawn inspiration from their unique sound. In 2023, Los Mirlos celebrated their 50th anniversary with a special tour, a documentary about their history, and a memorable performance at the renowned KEXP radio station in Seattle, USA, which helped them connect with a global audience. With more than 30 albums and numerous awards recognizing their cultural impact, their remarkable journey has now led them to be part of the 2025 Coachella lineup.

Coachella 2025: A dream comes true

Los Mirlos will perform on the main days of the festival, April 11 and 18, 2025, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The group will share the stage with global superstars like Lady Gaga, Missy Elliott, and LISA.

Jorge Rodriguez Grandez, the leader of the band, expressed his excitement, highlighting that this is a unique opportunity to represent Peru and showcase the richness of Amazonian cumbia to the world.

According to Rodríguez, it was the festival organizers who reached out to them to be part of the lineup. His son took charge of finalizing the negotiations in Los Angeles.
