A model of sustainability and conservation
The award recognizes the collaborative efforts of the government, local authorities, and communities to preserve iconic destinations like Machupicchu and the Amazon rainforest. These initiatives have made our Historic Sanctuary the only wonder of the world to earn a "Carbon Neutral Destination" certification, thanks to the implementation of impactful measures to reduce its carbon footprint.

Additionally, in 2024, five Peruvian destinations were recognized in the Green Destinations Story Awards, including Tingo Maria, which made history as the first destination in Peru to earn the prestigious international gold-level certification. This achievement firmly establishes it as a global model of sustainability.
An experience that enchanted China
The visit of Chinese actor Xia Yu, accompanied by a team of journalists, played a pivotal role in earning this recognition. Organized by PROMPERÚ and Voyage magazine, the tour resulted in a special edition of the publication, which reached over 200,000 readers and showcased Peru's stunning natural and cultural treasures.
As a result of these efforts, Chinese tourism to Peru increased by 77 % in 2024, with over 39,500 visitors, solidifying Peru's status as a leading and sustainable destination on the global stage.
