Five destinations in Peru have earned a spot on the Top 100 Green Destinations list, which celebrates innovative efforts in sustainable.
Great news! Peru has once again secured a place on the prestigious Top 100 Green Destinations list, with five locations recognized for their exemplary sustainable tourism practices. These destinations include the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve (Loreto), the System of Islands, Islets, and Guaneras Points (Callao), Kuelap-Gocta (Amazonas), Los Organos (Piura), and Tingo Maria National Park (Huanuco).
The inclusion of these destinations highlights Peru's rich natural heritage and its dedication to promoting responsible tourism. Notably, the country's geographic diversity is increasingly attracting the attention of travelers and nature enthusiasts worldwide.

Tingo Maria: First gold-certified destination
Tingo Maria National Park has earned Gold Certification from Green Destinations, making it the first Peruvian site to achieve this prestigious international recognition for sustainability. These destinations are celebrated not only for their stunning natural beauty but also for their commitment to fostering sustainable and responsible tourism practices.

An achievement that boosts tourism in Peru
The Top 100 Green Destinations highlights destinations that have embraced innovative solutions to address the challenges of sustainable tourism. The selection process evaluates the quality of the stories submitted, their positive impact, and the innovation and sustainability of the practices they showcase.
To earn a spot on the list, each destination showcased its sustainable practices and contributions to responsible tourism. The inclusion of the Peruvian sites was made possible through technical support coordinated by Mincetur, in collaboration with the Regional Government of Amazonas, the District Municipality of Los Organos, Sernanp, the private sector, and local communities.

This milestone boosts Peru's tourism sector while creating jobs and new opportunities across the country. Since joining the Green Destinations community in 2020, Peru has been actively working to align its destinations with global sustainability standards.
The Green Destinations Story Awards 2024 will take place in Punta Arenas, Chile, from December 10-12. During the ceremony, destinations that have excelled in sustainable and innovative practices will be honored.
