Peruvian super foods were showcased at Europe's biggest market

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Rungis, the world's largest wholesale market for agricultural products, five Peruvian companies arrived at the iconic Grand Palais in Paris to offer Peruvian super foods.

Peru had a stand located in a strategic zone, attracting a large number of visitors from the more than 6 000 who came to the celebration in which renowned chefs and cooking schools participated. In addition, a number French and international television and radio broadcasters gave airtime to Peru.

At Rungis, the majority of fresh produce exporters do business with major French importers dealing in avocados, grapes, mangoes, asparagus, ginger, banana, pomegranate and blueberries.

It should be pointed out that the presence of Peruvian companies was organized by PROMPERU France and the Franco-Peruvian group Picaflor.

PERUVIANS AT RUNGIS

At the 50th anniversary of Rungis, the Peruvian representatives included the El Picaflor restaurant in Paris, Tolentino Trading (importer of maca, soursop and cat's claw), Kuyay organic chocolates, Laurie & Pujalt (gourmet sea salt products), Café de Papa (specialty coffees from Chanchamayo) and Pisco Intipalka.

In addition, the Franco-Peruvian firm AllPampa promoted the products of the Peruvian companies it represents, such as Cooperativa Cagma (Apurímac), Candela (Lima), Cooperativa Cecovasa (Puno), Cooperativa Pangoa (Junín), Cooperativa Cepresa (Lambayeque), Cooperativa Caes (Piura) and Agroindustrias Osho (Callao).

The presentation of Peruvian products at Rungis is part of PROMPERU’s strategy to position Peru as a supplier of health foods to the French market, at the same time as promoting the Super Foods Peru, Cafés del Perú, and Pisco, Spirit of Peru industry brands.

As well as the presentation and marketing of Peruvian products at Rungis, between November 15 and 17 there were tastings, cultural activations and master classes that explained the unique characteristics of Peruvian cuisine and foods, as well as Pisco, to end consumers.
