Peruvian Coffee Grows 29% in Value and Gains Ground in Specialty Markets

Peruvian coffee continues to gain recognition in international markets. Exports reached USD 228.29 million between January and May 2026, an increase of 29.38% compared with the same period in 2025. The result reflects growing interest in Peruvian-origin coffees and their distinctive cup profiles.
The United States and Belgium remain the leading destinations, with shipments worth USD 75.37 million and USD 32.87 million, respectively. Both markets recorded significant growth: 68.20% in the United States and 77.01% in Belgium.

In Europe, the United Kingdom and France also stood out, with shipments increasing by 491.07% and 383.18%, respectively, opening up new opportunities for Peruvian specialty coffee.
Within Peru, Cajamarca leads coffee exports, with USD 124.41 million between January and May, accounting for 54.50% of the national total. It is followed by regions such as Amazonas and Junín, which, together with San Martín and Cusco, are part of a production chain sustained primarily by small-scale producers and coffee-growing organizations.
Coffee is one of Peru’s main agricultural exports and provides a livelihood for more than 220,000 families. It is grown on more than 400,000 hectares across 16 regions of the country, where the diversity of regions, varieties, and profiles makes it possible to offer international consumers a wide range of coffees.

This growth is taking place in a challenging environment for the sector. Against this backdrop, trade promotion, technical preparation, traceability, and access to specialty markets are particularly important for continuing to increase the value of Peruvian coffee.
Events such as World of Coffee San Diego and World of Coffee Brussels provided an opportunity to showcase Peruvian coffees to importers, roasters, and specialized buyers. In this way, Peruvian coffee is not only reaching more markets: it is seeking to win over consumers who value the origin, quality, and story behind every cup.
