Peru-Chile Binational Meeting Concludes with Highest Number Generated in Trade Agreements

New record! The XIII Peru-Chile Binational Meeting 2023, held in Tacna on November 29 and 30, concluded with the highest number generated in commercial commitments of all its editions. In total, as a result of the 330 business meetings, which included the sectors of agriculture, equipment for the food industry, logistics services and tourism, an investment of USD 14.4 million is projected.
This activity was carried out in partnership with the General Directorate of Export Promotion of Chile, ProChile. In this regard, the Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERU) reported that last year's figures have been exceeded by 60%, and the initial projections for this version were 9 million.
The business roundtable was attended by 53 small and medium-sized exporting companies with export potential from Tacna, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Ancash, Cusco, Huánuco, Junín, Lima, Moquegua and Piura, as well as 25 Chilean buyers, convened by PROMPERU. For its part, ProChile brought together 25 Chilean exporters and 15 buyers.
This year, for the first time, buyers from Bolivia (6) and Brazil (4) participated and, also in person, the tourism sector was included in the business roundtable to contribute to its reactivation. The products that were negotiated were olives, oregano, mushrooms, paprika, olive oil, grapes, mangoes, papaya, ginger, among others. In addition, a specialized forum on trending issues was held for the tourism and export sectors.
The Peru-Chile Binational Meeting developed its first version in 2010 and to date 493 exporting companies and companies with export potential from Peru have participated, and 154 buyers from Chile, including this year companies from Bolivia and Brazil. In 2024 it will be held in the city of Arica.
