Meeting tourism in Peru is a sector experiencing constant growth and offers numerous opportunities.
Recognized for its ability to attract and mobilize people from various industries and for its contribution to the economy, meeting tourism is a vital part of a country’s overall ecosystem.
It is essential to promote this type of tourism in Peru because meeting tourists spend 50 % more than vacation tourists, and 30 % of them engage in pre- and post-event tours in the host destinations.

COCAL 2024 CONGRESS
From July 9 to 11, Lima hosted the 40th edition of the COCAL Congress, a renowned event promoting meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism. It also brought together key leaders from the sector across Latin America.
On July 9, the Future Leaders Forum academic event was held for students from universities and technical schools in Peru. On July 10 and 11, a business congress was held with industry players from across Latin America at the renowned Swissotel Lima.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The COCAL 2024 Congress had the institutional collaboration of the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERU) and was organized by the Lima Convention Bureau.
The event highlighted Peru's tourist, gastronomic, cultural and natural attractions as a destination, as well as its hotel infrastructure, making it an ideal country for the organization of major international events and congresses.
Recognized as a major annual event in the region's meetings industry, COCAL 2024 has the following objectives: the exchange of knowledge among professionals in the sector, the use of sustainability and technology, and the importance of planning events and meetings in a field such as tourism.
