Peru chosen as leading culinary destination of the year in China

Peru was named the leading culinary destination in the 15th annual ceremony of the Voyage Awards, an event held in the city of Beijing that brought together more than 500 Chinese professionals from the high-end travel industry to present awards to the most outstanding destinations and brands of 2019.
Ever since its launch in 2004, Voyage magazine has been reporting on tourist routes, airlines, hotels and interesting lifestyles for high-spending consumers in the Asian country. With the intention of recognizing its best exponents, the prestigious media outlet annually organizes the Voyage Awards.
The evaluation criteria for travel destinations include current performance, development potential, innovation and attention to the Chinese market. The magazine's journalists thus visited 200 destinations in China and the world during the year before voting.

VOYAGE IN PERU
Dong Jun, senior editor at Voyage, visited Peru in May of this year, participating in a press trip organized by PROMPERÚ as part of the strategy to promote tourism in China. This activity generated the publication of two articles, dedicating a total of 20 pages to Peru.
"Peruvian food is a joyful celebration of colors, textures and aromas that steal the hearts of visitors", stressed the journalist. It should be noted that the articles were read by more than a million people, Chinese travelers willing to spend significant amounts to enjoy exclusive experiences.

The number of tourists from China was 33,544 from January to October 2019. This signified a 10% increase on last year.
