Positive results! The latest investment forum “Invest Day: Peru - Argentina 2023” ended successfully, leaving a great prospect of projects for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in our country. In this context, the main focus was on our high-tech sector, which encompasses ecosystems of innovation and entrepreneurship. This is thanks to the portfolio of proposals that was submitted, and the legal and juridical framework that Peru has, which gives legal certainty to the interested parties.
“This event has been important because it helps us to continue positioning and enhancing Peru as an attractive destination for Argentine investors/companies, attracting their capital for participation in the execution of investment projects in our country, and thus contribute to the further development and sophistication of products and services in the Peruvian market,” said Daniel Córdova, Director of Business Investment Promotion at PROMPERU.
Four conferences were given by national and one international speaker. The 13 Argentine investors from the high-tech, logistics, real estate and manufacturing sectors who participated in the forum held 72 meetings with Peruvian businessmen during the two days of speed dating. In the high-tech sector, the investment projects of 15 companies were promoted, involving an estimated joint investment of USD 33 million. Our country has become an ideal destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which has been attracted by the diversity of investment opportunities in various economic sectors; not only in sectors linked to infrastructure, but also in productive sectors linked to non-traditional exports and tourism, of course.
In the last 20 years (2003-2022), Peru received more than USD 110 000 million of FDI, globally, through 1152 projects implemented by 826 companies, generating more than 240,000 jobs (according to the Financial Times fDi Markets platform). Of this total, Argentina has invested a total of USD 2,187 million in Peru, through 39 projects carried out by 35 companies, generating 3097 jobs, according to the aforementioned information platform.
Additional information:
- Regarding the source of investment flows from Argentina to our country, 75% of the FDI recorded in this period comes from Buenos Aires, as well as from the provinces of Córdoba, Santa Fe and Mendoza.
- According to the Financial Times' fDi Markets platform, between 2003 and 2022, FDI from Peru to Argentina was executed by 5 Peruvian companies, making an investment of approximately USD 213 million and providing approximately 997 jobs in Argentina.
