Madrid was guest city for the event’s fourth edition, set up in Chorrillos district. There was a special section of seven Spanish galleries with works of art from more than 30 artists. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, engravings and exhibitions of the highest level, made this one of the most important fairs in the Peruvian artistic market. 2016 Art Lima opened its doors for four consecutive years to welcome 63 national galleries and international installations from 14 countries. Visitors were able to appreciate innovative artist’s work and galleries that promoted Latin American contemporary art. Art Lima general director, Rochi Del Castillo, mentioned that the fair is not only intended for collectors, but also to be the gathering point around the current art proposal for the public. ‘In the last five years, Peruvian contemporary artists have accessed the most important art collections, work with museums and are represented by art galleries’, del Castillo mentioned. He also highlighted the commercial space generated by the fair, bringing people closer to art and culture. Lima, capital city of Peru, continues growing in every aspect, and that is something to take notice.
