Historical delegation: Peru represented by 29 athletes at 2016 Rio Olympic Games

Classified by their own merits. Work, determination and lots of effort. These are the characteristics of Peruvian athletes who classified in different sports disciplines. 29 athletes will represent Peru at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, as wrestler Yanet Sovero classification was confirmed last. This is an unprecedented number of athletes.

The highest record of Peruvian athletes was 2000 Sidney Games, presenting a delegation of 22 athletes competing in six sports.

The COP (Peruvian Olympic Committee) informed Francisco Boza, sports shooter, will carry the delegation’s flag on August 5th at 2016 Rio Olympic Games opening ceremony. He declared: ‘on behalf of the other 28 classified Peruvian athletes, I can say that I am very proud to carry the Peruvian flag for such a spectacular delegation’.

The following is the 2016 Rio Olympic Games Peruvian delegation:

-Track and field: Inés Melchor, Gladys Tejeda, Jovana de la Cruz, Raúl Pacheco, Cristian Pacheco, Raúl Machacuay; Jessica Hannco, Kimberly García, Pavel Chihuán, Paolo Yurivilca, Luis Henry Campos, Luis Ostos, David Torrence and Arturo Chávez

-Shooting: Francisco Boza and Marko Carrillo

-Rowing: Camila Valle and Renzo León

-Sailing: Stefano Peschiera and Paloma Schmidt

-Judo: Juan Postigos

-Taekwondo: Julissa Diez Canseco

-Artistic Gymnastics : Ariana Orrego

-Equestrian: Alonso Valdez

-Swimming: Andrea Cedrón and Nicholás Magana

-Weightlifting: Hernán Viera and Fiorella Cueva.

-Wrestling: Yanet Sovero
