From January 17 to 19, Peru participated in the Vakanz Tourism Fair in Luxembourg, an event that brought together more than 200 exhibitors from around the world and around 30,000 visitors.
The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), through its office in the Netherlands and in coordination with tour operators and the airline Air Europa, promoted Peru's tourist offerings, highlighting the Amazonia and the beaches of northern Peru.
Among the prominent figures attending the fair was Lex Delles, Luxembourg's Minister of Tourism, who was given the opportunity to taste some Peruvian stews along with our national drink. He also expressed an interest in visiting the Cordillera Blanca, in the region of Ancash.
By participating in the Vakanz trade fair, PROMPERÚ seeks to position the country in this important area of the European Union, in order to attract travelers with a high purchasing power who are able stay longer during their visit to Peru.
The Luxembourg market
Luxembourg is the richest country in the European Union, with a per capita GDP of 80,800 euros per year. Unique in its own right, it is the only remaining grand duchy in the world, is located in the heart of the Old Continent and has three official languages.
About two thirds of the Luxembourg population make at least one leisure trip a year, and usually spend around 3,200 euros when visiting the American continent. For this reason, it is considered an attractive market for promoting receptive tourism.
