Lima, the city with a perfect harmony between tradition and modern architecture, is becoming a must-see destination in South America and Booking.com's list confirms this.

The acknowledged gastronomic capital of Latin America ranks ninth on the list of top destinations for 2018. "The city is becoming more popular with travelers", the Booking.com team explained, following their survey of 18,509 people, 41% of whom were interested in cultural and historic destinations, and a similar percentage in gastronomy.

According to the participants, our lively city not only offers adventure experiences, with activities such as paragliding and surfing, but also a rich culture. The delicious and prestigious Peruvian cuisine also supports this and in Lima there are an incredible number of restaurants on offer. The users of the travel site even recommend taking a food tour if you visit the city.

The Japanese city of Sapporo is at the top of the list, followed by Nashville in the United States. Bucharest in Romania took third place, while Zakopane in southern Poland took fourth place. The top five is finished off by Taitung in Taiwan.

5.     Taitung, Taiwan
