Peru Fashion and Alpaca Fiesta 2021: Our textile offer to the world is more sustainable than ever

The world of fashion has focused on incorporating an approach on sustainability and innovation, and Peru is no stranger to it. These important events with online editions highlighted these axes while delivering a spectacular textile offer.

PROMPERÚ and the Asociación Internacional de la Alpaca - AIA (International Alpaca Association) held the Peru Moda Deco and Alpaca Fiesta 2021. These events were held from October 25 to November 12, through an online and commercial platform. The objective was to bring together the best of clothing and decoration for homes with a view to promoting the internationalization of Peruvian companies in the field.

For this edition, there were more than 250 exporters from Peru who were in contact with potential investors from different countries such as the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Canada, Bolivia, Brazil, among all the great call of countries through commercial offices in the world. The participating companies belong to various lines of the sector, such as cotton, babies and children, alpaca, footwear, jewelry, decoration, made of cotton and alpaca fiber.

A very important issue in recent editions has been the sustainability. The sustainable fashion approach is increasingly present in the sector and, above all, in our country. This arises as a change in the forms of consumption and production. The objective has been to redesign the textile industry (one of the most polluting internationally), producing efficiently but always with a view to being transversely friendly with the environment.

While the focus on sustainability is important, those on new trends, innovation and markets were present. In turn, the Alpaca Summit played these axes but specialized in alpaca.

The following are the speakers and the topics that were presented at these events: Responsible Fashion, by Sylvie Pourrat, Director of the Who's Next fair (France); The marketing sustainable products in the US - Colvin English - Co-founder of ByHand Consulting (United States), Fashion trends in the Brazilian market, with Anny Santos - National Fashion Coordinator - SEBRAE (Brazil), and the Vicuña survivor of the finest, with Mike Safley from Quechua Benefit (United States).
